clad in black, stockings up her thighs
i watch her from my table while she takes her seat outside
8 pm, the sun goes down
here comes another night that i’m gonna spend alone
the bottle’s empty, i don’t have a dime
the birds up in the tree mock me with their mating calls
the waiter approaches her, with the tray in his hand
“excuse, ma’am, what are you gonna have?”
she closes her book, looks him in the eye
and says “a cup of coffee with two sugar cubes,
cream,
and a tiny drop of whiskey”
reminds me of a girl that i used to see
there’s something about her gesture, i can’t put my finger on it
maybe’s the way she talks, the way she looks
that golden waterfall from her head down to her back
or maybe it’s, if i remember well
the way she ordered something when the waiter came to her
she used to close her book, look him in the eye
and say “a cup of coffee with two sugar cubes,
cream,
and a tiny drop of whiskey”

take a left at the Misery lane
walk down the stairs of the Dawn Cafe
find the red door with the rose shaped knob
sit by the couch in the room below
she’ll be right there, right where she needs to be
carefully lit by the crimson red light
but don’t you ever dare to approach her unexpectedly
or that could be your last foolish enterprise
say goodbye to your understanding of reality
watch as she breaks your dogmas, one by one
despair as she devastates everything you know
let her take control of the strings of your mind
life becomes meaningless after you meet her
every single thought second-guessed by her voice
does satisfaction come with her answers
or does your mind fall into an infinite void?
say goodbye to your understanding of reality
watch as she breaks your dogmas, one by one
despair as she devastates everything you know
let her take control of the strings of your mind

yesterday, when i went for a walk
i met this girl who caught my eye
she took me to the nearest bar and said
“i need a drink, and then we’ll need a ride”
oh, my dear, i wish i could
but i’m too broke and i’m dead drunk
she said “don’t worry, i got you this time
but next time we meet you better comply”
oh, i can’t believe my luck
oh, i really hope i don’t fuck this up
i get some whiskey, she orders wine
as the rain invites some people to hustle inside
we watch the cats through the window, laying behind the blinds
of the old cafe that closed when that old lady died
her big green eyes pierce right through me
with her easy smile she puts me at ease
she says “hey, why don’t we go back to my place”
but all i can think about is
oh, i can’t believe my luck
oh, i really hope i don’t fuck this up

meet me before dawn, where the river meets the bridge
we’ll set sail as soon as the sun awakes from its everlasting dream
it’s not too late, when they come for us we’ll be gone, gone with the wind
we’ll be vanished, not a trace of us, just an enigma in the shape of two ghosts
they’re onto us, but always a step behind
trying to solve the jigsaw without knowing we’re elsewhere,
far away, nowhere to be found, locked inside the dreams of the roses when they die
don’t wait for me, leave as soon as the first rays of sun shine on your face
i’ll do the same, please understand, nothing good comes of both of us getting caught
if i don’t make it, remember me as i was when we were young and full of life and hope and free
but make no mistake, i have no regrets
i would do it all again, exactly the same way

woke up in a bed without sheets
in someone else’s house
and a black cat at my feet
the cat looks up to me
and says “hey, my name is Sam”
then I realize that she’s missing a hand
the single-handed cat
starts to talk about
her friend Silvia that apparently i ought know
and just when she mentions her
the church bells chime
and the ceiling and the floor start crumbling down
Silvia comes, flying through the window
and as i freak out she blows me a kiss
suddenly, the church bells sound no more
and Sam has four paws again
and we slide into the bed, which propels into outer space
whenever she giggles, reality slows down
and i wonder who do i have to kill
to be a button in her blouse
she leans in for a kiss
which i welcome with mine
as the asteroids around start exploding without a sound
suddenly, i’m back in the room
alone with Sam at bed
believe me when i point out she’s missing a hand again
the church bells start to chime
the floor and the ceiling fall apart
but now aware of how this works, i wait for her to come hang out
Silvia comes, flying through the window
and as i freak out she blows me a kiss
suddenly, the church bells sound no more
and Sam has four paws again
and we slide into the bed, which propels into outer space

In here you’ll find stories entangled with melodies, all of them of my creation. Some of them are true, some of them aren’t. Some of them made me happy, some of them haunt me to this day. I’m obliged to invite you to enter this maze of words and music under your own discretion. Don’t look back. Follow your gut. I advise you to consume this collection of songs under a heavy dose of your drug of choice.
