lyrics
Hannah walks across the street staring at her feet
her long legs, growing out of her skirt, avoid the puddles with ease
the cars pass by, splitting the night in half with their bright headlights
she knocks on a door from which emerges a voice: “it’s open, come inside”
Mark awaits lying on his couch, his socks are brown
as Hannah hangs her coat, he gets up, puts some music on
she opens her purse and reaches within for two Buddha-shaped pills
they swallow them both, easing them up with some rum, and they lay on their backs
and everything makes more sense than it has ever made
her porcelain soft skin on the sheets of his unmade bed
the path of his fingertips in their way through Hannah’s hair
and those sneaky goose bumps as they get hit by wave after wave
a narcotic waltz, a slow-mo dance disrupts the shape of time
his hands on her waist, a necklace of arms hung from their subtle sway
her black amber eyes, a crystal swamp, an onyx suicide
reflecting Mark’s face as he gazes upon her dangling locks of hair
and everything makes more sense than it has ever made
her porcelain soft skin on the sheets of his unmade bed
the path of his fingertips in their route through Hannah’s hair
and those sneaky goose bumps as they get hit by wave after wave
